PolisGraphics: the new “engaged” applied arts is an interdisciplinary exhibition which showcases shots of protests and political activism even of a “radical” nature, in singular works carried out by Italian graphic designers, painters, designers and artists. Besides the homages paid to more well-known masters such as Mauro Bubbico, Mario Cresci, Toni Negri and Tommaso Tozzi, younger spokespeople of visual experimentation such as Claudio Calia and Zerocalcare, Marco Calabrese, Alessandro Scali, Mauro Gottardo, Nicolò Tomaini, Mary Tremonte, Undesign amongst others take on the theme of the polis (the city) democracy, autonomy and, of course, politics. Through mostly self-produced artefacts, a new culture of opposition, with all its difficulties and contradictions, comes to life.
