Inspired by McLuhan’s notion that “the medium is the message,” Signopic (sign + picture) explores how meaning can emerge directly from the act of making. The workshop focuses on the creation of forms that function simultaneously as illustrations, signs and graphic elements, united by a common quality: simplicity rooted in manual making. Through a series of concise hands-on exercises, participants develop geometric yet distinctive visual forms, moving beyond generic solutions and building a recognizable visual language. In an increasingly standardized visual landscape, the workshop explores how simple manual processes can generate unexpected, memorable and distinctive visual forms.
