A new urban landscape takes shape above an underground parking lot: colors, furniture and graphic signs transform a forgotten space into a vibrant and shared place. An urban painting intervention that invites the community to rediscover and inhabit the neighborhood in a new way

Corso Racconigi

Social Design

This project merges urban painting and street furniture to reshape both the aesthetics and use of the space, shifting the neighborhood’s attention and participation to a previously underutilized area. Colorful patterns and shapes form islands connected by bridges, inviting new functions: seating, play areas and fitness equipment engage a diverse range of users in reclaiming the city.

The intervention was commissioned by the City of Turin and funded by the European Union, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, and PNRR, with technical sponsorship from Univer PPG.

A colorful carpet covers the old walking surface, revealing new possibilities for use: through a simple and vibrant palette, the rooftop becomes a world map for moving, resting and experiencing collective space through a variety of activities and ways of being together.
