Neologia

The winners of the third edition of Neologia, the Graphic Days® open call, will be exhibited inside the Cavallerizza Reale; the project aims to create an observatory on visual design, a democratic and constantly evolving environment that brings together the best projects of young creatives rewarding the quality and experimentation of languages.

On display, there are posters, editorials and motion graphics created in the last two years by designers between 18 and 30 years old, Italian or living in Italy, to represent an overview of contemporary Italian design.

Digital Ceramics

What does it mean to bring the creative process back to its most practical form, reinterpreting a craft technique through contemporary and modern automation? The Dutch duo Studio GdB knows this well, as over the years they have transformed and renewed their creative work, specializing in the production of customized glazed ceramics. With a background in visual design, Studio GdB’s work expertly combines aesthetic attention to graphic composition with a predisposition for experimenting with languages. This was made possible through the development, design, and programming of a CNC (computer numerical control) printer capable of printing glazes on tiles. The result is a production of ceramics with bright colors and a fascinating aesthetic that blends the unique and artisanal character of “handmade” with the mechanical precision of industrial production.

Wonder from the past

The Wonder from the Past exhibition highlights the work of Cierne Diery, an activism project that has been working since 2014 to give new value to Slovakia’s historic buildings, from old factories to ruined spas and modernist architectural icons. These places have been represented in books and graphic prints, acquired by the Slovak National Gallery and have become a true case of collecting. More than 90 authors from the world of visual arts, illustration, and graphic design from Slovakia participated in the series produced by Cierne Diery’s risograph printers. Behind the fascinating graphics and vibrant colors, however, lies a project of great cultural and social interest, which testifies to the beauty and architectural heritage of Slovakia and which has allowed the association to engage in the restoration of some of these monuments, elevating their representation to contemporary art language with a social subtext as well. The project has received several awards in the field of Slovak design and architecture.

Memento: details of forgotten beauty

Vinicius Libardoni’s retrospective exhibition features a series of engravings created by the Italian-Brazilian architect and artist, inviting reflection on the current condition of contemporary architecture and historical building heritage. By combining the aesthetics of craftsmanship, the tactile characteristics of materials, and the construction solutions themselves, Vinicius Libardoni creates poetic images to emphasize the importance of preserving and revitalizing abandoned structures, which often have been forgotten over time, considering them instead an integral part of a country’s cultural heritage. His engravings are extremely detailed, capturing the intricate beauty of each structure and drawing the viewer into his imaginary world of forgotten architecture.

IO & TE

The exhibition IO & TE presents, for the first time in Italy, an immersive collection of works and objects from the archive of graphic artist Anthony Burrill. Known for his persuasive and optimistic communication style, his messages have become a true mantra for the design community and beyond. The exhibition features works created over the past three decades of his career: alongside the more familiar collections, the show retraces his path as a student up to his most recent and previously unseen works. Typographic posters, screen prints, as well as objects selected from the collection of his graphic ephemera offer the viewer an immersive journey into the studio and creative process of this iconic artist.

Diagonali

Have you ever felt like joining dots scattered across a sheet of paper, drawing straight lines and seeing them become curved until they form a circle?

Diagonali synthesizes this vision. The circular movement connects words like passion, for colors and light, return, to the trees through which we draw, read and write, people, who love Art in all its overlaps. Andrea Serio’s illustrations dedicated to the covers are the beating heart of the project curated by Chiara Stival.

Mostra Collettiva

Pangramma is a freelance collective that promotes design culture, firmly believing in the power of sharing. We think that collaboration between different professional figures is the key to increased creativity and professional growth. In order to celebrate freelancers we’ll be setting up a collective exhibit built around the object that best represents professional identity: business cards.

The event will therefore be an opportunity to show different printing methods on different supports combined with unique identitary visual languages, valuing the freelance network and encouraging collaboration and self promotion. Precisely in the name of creative contamination, for this event Pangramma will be collaborating with Wworks DedignBuild, two young architects that turned an old industrial warehouse located in Turin in a hybrid system that functions as a house, a laboratory and a co-working space. Their innovative urban ranch will be the suggestive setting of the exhibit.

At the event: Fabio Barraco (DJ set) Beatrice Oreti (singer)

Friday 12 from 3 to 7pm, Saturday 13 from 3 to 7pm and Sunday 14 from 3 to 7pm.

Guarda che City!

Guarda che City!

Every day we are influenced by the environment we live in. It is part of our identity but sometimes it does not represent us. When we find that we are surrounded by gray and gloomy places it is up to us to look for and find a way to bring color back to our city. Guarda che City! is not just an exclamation of amazement, but an event where creativity and craft production come together to give all guests a chance to help bring color back to the streets of the city once again.

Delving into an immersive installation, the creativity of visitors will be stimulated, who will have the opportunity to produce, decorative works intended for display throughout the Graphic Days – In The City event. These will later become part of a widespread exhibition aimed at restoring creativity and color to the city.

The exhibition will also remain open to the public on the following dates:

Friday 12/05 from 5pm to 8pm

Saturday 13/05 from 11am to 8pm

Sunday, 14/05 from 11am to 6pm

San Salvario between analog and digital

San Salvario is liberty style, it’s the former adult cinema in Maffei street, it’s the porticoes of Nizza street, it’s the Valentino’s park, it’s the Colosseo theater’ Street Art, it’s Piazza Madama market. San Salvario is well imprinted in old 50s and 60s photos, but above all it’s a thousand of different souls that today come to life in everyone’s imagination.

How’s your San Salvario? We wanted to begin with archive images and overlap nowdays photos. So, we want to make all San Salvario layers visible. It’s a perfect meeting between past and present, looking for a more intimate neighborhood. We are going to use a very old tool, the calcographic press, and a new technique, Gum Print. Gum Print is an hand printing of a photographic image which makes the final result a unique piece.

The works will be exhibited in an engraving lab where you can try the Gum Print art printing technique with us, to create an original and personal print of the neighborhood.

Disclosure

Visual investigation of the relationship between images as a tool for comprehensible and unambiguous communication and images as an object of interpretation and emotion. The relationship between uncoded gestures and images, on the contrary, extremely framed in the syntax and logical context of each of us, becomes the central element of the project, traversing the social and mental pathways that transform the former into the latter.

The digital, considered as a specific communication system that wants to limit misunderstandings, relates in humans with the analog, which instead draws on the experiential and emotional universe open to interpretations. Analog and digital reinterpreted as expression and communication, two hemispheres connected to describe our existence.

The project aims to explore the interactions of these two languages converging in a visual restitution and make manifest this interaction that underlies human communication.

Quality and craftsmanship are two fundamental aspects of the F&B industry. Handicrafts are distinguished by the attention to detail and the passion they put into each product made by hand, increasingly using high-quality, natural materials.

Telling the story of small-scale artisan producers is essential to enhance their work and to acquaint the public with the techniques and traditions that have been handed down for generations. In this way, bridges are built between past and present, between different cultures, and the preservation of artisan traditions and techniques is encouraged.

Giving small producers a voice also means creating new languages, starting with knowledge and the small. The discovery of new techniques and materials can lead to new ways of conceiving and producing consumer goods, with greater attention to environmental and social sustainability.

Experimentation is another important aspect in crafts. By being able to work by hand, artisan producers can experiment with new materials and production techniques, resulting in unique and customized products. This process of experimentation is often accompanied by the communication of the product through a poster-manifesto, which enhances its history and quality.

In conclusion, quality and craftsmanship, telling the story of small producers, experimentation, and communication through a poster-manifesto are all fundamental aspects of modern craftsmanship. This sector can contribute significantly to the enhancement of traditions and the creation of new, sustainable, high-quality forms of production.

In the context of EDIT we will be asked about this and other issues while walking through producer tastings, craft beers, DJ sets and, of course, posters.

The event is organized by Calibro Zero and EDIT, in collaboration with the Turin Chamber of Commerce, Colla! and The Spiritual Machine.

Brand new Identity – We are what we consume

Bruno takes the observers to a surreal universe where the most known commercial Brands are now the starting point of an ironic but deep thinking. We are what we consume; in his works mankind turns into an everyday object, he reviewed the products’ packaging from a sociological data very often unknown, in its own imaginative world . Various are the Big Brands analyzed in his 13 photographs, such as Coca Cola, Lego, Ferrero, Marlboro, Lavazza…

Bruno will guide you in the creative process starting from the early sketches on paper, through the photo session and editing, till the final step: a huge printed copy 160×100 cm on fine art paper assembled on a 5mm Dibond panel.
