Irene Suosalo

Irene Suosalo (b-1995) lives and works in Helsinki, Finland. Her practice presents us with unique experimental animations and installations based on an underlying interest for infraction and broken surfaces.
Suosalo combines a multitude of methods both old and new in the creation of her work. During the first stages of the compositions she often recycles simple materials. Using paper which she cuts, scans and animates digitally, she then employs older methods like video synthesizers to play with the video material and break the surfaces which are then combined with the animations.
Suosalo started working with animation for her first VJ gig at Kaiku Club in Helsinki in 2018. Currently she works with animation broadly, focusing on video art, animated illustrations and visualising music. She is represented by the art gallery Gallery KANT, Copenhagen and the artist representation Mose Mgmt. Her illustration clients are, for example, The New York Times & Bottega Veneta.
